Built from a short-deck L18 cast iron block, this 1998cc L-Series bottom end is fitted with a Nissan KA series 4 valve twin cam head, dry sump, and custom, dual injection system featuring a MoTeC M84. Using custom made, steel billet crank, Carrillo rods and forged pistons, this engine was built to make maximum power at 9000rpm.
Les Collins Racing designed and constructed all external components including sump, intake and exhaust manifolds, and full EMS wiring.
This engine met all expectations. At dynamometer testing in October 2013 it produced 282bhp at 9000rpm with an impressively flat torque curve between 6000 & 8000rpm at around 175ft/lbs. Watch movie below or click YouTube link to watch in Full HD (Choose 1080p in the gear drop down).
